My name is Christina Joy and I am 20 years old. Among other things, I am a student, a freelance photographer, and people-watcher extraordinaire. This blog is a mason jar for the fragments of my increasingly jumbled soul. Don't be afraid of the monsters under the bed.

Only you, only you, you know

Over the summer, I shot my first senior pictures for a girl in my brother's graduating high school class.  She also happens to be a friend of mine, so we had a lot of fun during the shoot.  We took the pictures by a beautiful marsh located directly alongside a busy road.  The best part was watching people gawk at us as they zoomed by in their cars.

As you can see from these pictures, we had a blast.  Becca was incredible to work with, and all in all there was a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.  I hope to shoot with her again when I return home for Christmas break.

The harshness of oxygen

There are two reasons why I keep posting old photos.  The first is that my favorite 50mm lens is broken.  (This shall not be remedied for several weeks, when I fly home and my parents can pay to get it fixed as a Christmas gift to me.  Yay parents.)  The second is that my current photos suck.  I could blame it on the kit lens I am using, but that seems like a cop-out, and one thing I abhor is a cop-out.

These photos were taken sometime in September, I think.  Back when my hair was blonde and classes had not yet fully intensified.  Trent and I decided to climb a fire escape and soak in the rays of sun that danced in the air and turned the grass into gold.  I don't remember what we talked about, except that I was fascinated with his stubble through my lens.  Ha, ha.

I mean, look at that.

Nine days from now, I will be finished with school for the semester.  Classes end on Friday, followed by finals starting on Monday.  As luck would have it, all my finals fall on or before Wednesday.  What will I do the rest of the week before traveling to Dallas with my man?  Sleep, sleep, and sleep some more.

Bring it on.

Still picture excursion

Here are some shots from a photoshoot with my friend Ariel earlier this month.  Incidentally, these were the last photos taken with my 20D before the shutter became possessed, signalling the end of its life.  Rest in peace, dear Byron.  You served me well.

Hello, I love you

This is less of a blog post and more of a public reminder to myself to blog more often.  There.  That's done.

Over the past few weeks, there have been some unfortunate incidents involving my electronic family.  As of now, I am without a computer (fried motherboard) and a camera (failed shutter).  I won't get a new computer until next fall, when I will be supplied with one by my school as part of my multimedia studies.  Thankfully, I don't have to wait that long for a camera--my aunt found me a Canon 30D for $300 and it is being shipped here as I type.  Hopefully I will get back into taking pictures and posting them on here.

Off to present a print ad in class.  Au revoir, mes amies.
